Rev. Nic Cable

Rev. Nic Cable was called to be the settled minister of UUCCI in May of 2017.

Nic attended DePaul University in Chicago to go into seminary with the intention of pursuing ministry. Nic’s goals as a minister are to foster inclusive, justice-centered communities that lift up and celebrate the sacredness of all life. He enjoys helping to articulate the visions of what the world could be and helping our communities build the world we dream of. While “searching for a ministry to call home”, he and his family felt a deep connection to Columbus and the UUCCI congregation. Establishing roots is important to Nic, both in his community and with the individual members of his congregation. Nic is deeply drawn to our work to nurture connections in the interfaith community and within our city. He currently serves on the board of directors for Turning Point Domestic Violence Services, the United Way Impact Committee, and as executive director of Columbus Interfaith.

For Nic's entire adult life, he has focused on building bridges to bring people together and finding shared values that can lead to common action. People may not realize that Unitarian Universalism can be a community where your individual journey is celebrated; where a minister will not tell you what to believe, but encourage a shared vision of beliefs in a non-dogmatic community. This shared vision of world religions includes the sacred wisdom within each of us.

Adrienne Summerlot

Adrienne Summerlot has been working in religious education for almost two decades serving in both large and small congregations, developing curriculum, and facilitating learning of other religious educators.  Adrienne is an Our Whole Lives trained educator who believes we can bring a similar comprehensive, inclusive, and holistic framework to our anti racism, anti oppression, multical cultural work in our congregations. She believes we are fortunate to be living in a time that is calling us to be curious, to develop our skills as both parents and educators to provide pathways to have honest and difficult conversations.  Adrienne is a storyteller, who has a passion for the outdoors, music, and cooking which find their ways into our programming.   She loves working at UUCCI where we have collaborative leadership and shared ministry that encourages us to learn, grow, and play together as lifelong learners.

Brittany Phillips

As a lifelong explorer of spiritual paths, Brittany is both delighted and honored to serve as the office admin for UUCCI, the community coordinator for Tree of Knowledge Community Coven, and a guiding member of Columbus Interfaith. Brittany Phillips has served UUCCI as the office administrator since 2022 and began serving the spiritual community in 2009 by organizing classes, spiritually enriching events, and creating accessible resources. Through this community work, she has gained many digital skills that she brings to her role as office admin. These include graphic design, web design, social media marketing, and online collaborative communication. Along with these skills, she also brings to UUCCI her passion for gathering others together in faith and friendship.

Brittany is a nurturer who enjoys feeding others, sharing stories, supporting others as they learn and grow on their path, and creating circles of fellowship where everyone can find connection and care. She is blessed to have the opportunity to do all these things for the beloved congregation at UUCCI.

Louise Hillery

Louise studied music from age 8 and began Indiana University as a Music Major. Although leaving the music major in search of a more practical field of study, she never stopped giving music lessons, playing saxophone and bassoon in bands and orchestras, and playing piano or organ for various religious congregations.

Retiring after thirty-three years as a teacher of students with special needs, she is proud to have researched, written, and published a book about women in Indiana history. Attending UUCCI since 2007, she has served as volunteer pianist and choir director since 2008. She now serves as a staff member in the compensated role of Lead Pianist and the volunteer role of Music Coordinator.

She is most proud of her two sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law, and two almost-grown grandsons, who all live nearby. Don’t look for her in June – she’ll be at bassoon camp.
