What Is A Death Cafe?
We all die. And yet death can be a very difficult topic to talk about. Death Cafes provide a chance to be together to eat cake and talk about death.
Why a Death Café? We know that talking about death to the point that we normalize it as a part of life helps reduce anxiety about our own death and the death of loved ones – and helps us live more fully. These relaxed, interesting conversations on death are fluid; you may choose to attend any of our monthly sessions. UUCCI members Cate Hyatt and Sandy McCoy will serve as gentle guides to keep the conversation flowing and to honor all persons’ own views and confidentiality.

UUCCI has purchased something special for you – Five Wishes Online. It may be one of the best gifts you’ll ever receive because it can bring peace of mind to you, your family and all those who love you.
Imagine there comes a time when you are unable to make your own medical decisions. It could be the result of a serious illness or an accident. Who would make decisions on your behalf? What would they decide? Would your loved ones disagree about what you would have wanted?
Five Wishes Online is an easy way for you to plan ahead of a health crisis. It is a legally valid document that tells your family and healthcare providers what is most important to you in case of a serious illness. Five Wishes is helpful for all adults, everyone over age 18. It is similar to a living will or advance directive. Five Wishes is better than these typical documents because it deals with all a person’s needs – the medical and legal, and also the personal , family and spiritual. These are the things people say matter the most.
Using this Five Wishes Online, provided by UUCCI, you can take a few simple steps to ensure that your wishes are known and respected. There is no additional cost to pay. You just need to fill out the document!

Completing Five Wishes is a gift to your family, friends and your doctor because it keeps them out of the difficult position of having to guess what kind of treatment you want or don’t want.
